Preventive Health Activities
As part of a comprehensive Quality Improvement and Management program, BHP seeks opportunities to develop activities aimed at improving the delivery of mental health services. BHP is committed to implementing two preventive health activities designed to benefit the member while improving the delivery of care. BHP has selected two diagnoses that are meaningful to the members seeking care within our network. These are ADHD and Depression.

The design and purpose is to improve early detection of either ADHD or Depression and to assist the member in finding a quality practitioner to provide assessment and treatment, as indicated. By informing practitioners of an indication of ADHD or Depression at the time of referral assists the practitioner in addressing these concerns from the start of treatment. In addition BHP, monitors the outcome of referrals. This means that we compare all completed screenings to the practitioner’s diagnosis. We are looking to see that our screening is effective in assisting the practitioner.

Our preventive programs are multi-faceted in that both are interconnected to other quality activities. For example, both depression and ADHD are the issues used for our clinical practice guidelines standard (detailed in the Clinical Quality Activities section). ADHD is also used for our targeted outreach program for an identified population. This information is included in the ADHD specific information and can be viewed by selecting the ADHD button below.
